Valentine's Day

And so the day when singles are caught unexpectedly by the ever mischievous Cupid roaming around - shooting heart shaped arrows expertly aimed to pierce through your heart and to your supposed other half - thus creating more love around the world.

Or not.

LOL!

We shall not dwell on the negative. ANYWAY! Single or not, regardless your status on your relationship section on Facebook or Friendster, it is a day to spread the love to others. It does not matter who the receiver of your love is - it can be your parents, your sibling, your significant other or even your beloved pet - it is the day to express your heartfelt love to the people you care for the most.

Years before, i had always treated this day just like any other. As i am sure some of you still do. But ever since i found my significant other, this day - 14th of February - became something a little bit more different than other days. Sure, we celebrate every other day like Valentine's Day but perhaps it is how the media and everyone else has played up this special occasion that tend to make oneself get caught in the whirlwind of Valentine's Day fantasy filled with roses and chocolates and surprise gifts.

For cynics, they would argue that it is just one of those days where you waste money on unnecessary gifts that would not last long and a day to provide yourself extra excuse to crowd at the mall and create havoc on the highway. Whilst the environmentalists would argue that it is a day where people gather to cause pollution for everyone else and cry for protest against celebrating Valentine's Day. And for the opportunists, (mostly businessmen and business women) it is a day to celebrate raising the prices of roses and other flowers alike and chocolates of assorted flavouring and for some, possibly raise the prices of sexy lingerie too. Restaurants even come up with special 3-course meal deals strictly for couples that are limited to that few choices of food and desserts that is complimented with a choice of either coffee or tea at an outrageous price.

But hey, whatever your take is on this day, i do think that it is a day meant for celebrating. Be it a simple get-together with family members or a day out shopping for the girls or even just sitting home with your love ones enjoying a chic flick with popcorn or chips on your laps, it is a day to take the time off your mundane routine life to spend special time with your love ones in whatever way that you enjoy.

I have always celebrated Valentine's Day with my family (except for these two years) and this year, i celebrated it with my significant other - Chu Ian. :D We went out in the afternoon (supposedly after lunch) and our first stop was at Centre Point. Haha! There, on the pretense of "finding" something, he bought me a beautiful rose and we walked over to McDs for my lunch. xD

That is a long story on its own so, never mind. xD Anyway, we then headed off to OU for the remaining day.

MY GOODNESS. It was packed like some market place!! EVERYWHERE you turn you see couples EVERYWHERE and EVERY girl seemed to be in dresses too... And maybe it is just me, but i think those "seasoned" couples were the easiest to spot because they were the minority that were dressed the simplest compared to all the newbies! xDDD

To be frank..we're considered newbies too lar...so....yeah. Got caught red handed with a dress too. xP

We decided on a movie. Which well, if you think about it, that is EXACTLY what EVERY couple would do. So yeah. Pretty much half of Damansara section people were there at the movie area. *faints* IMPOSSIBLE!!

NOT. When there is TGV at the older wing! :D I wanted to watch Inkheart. It looks like a very nice movie. Sadly, all the tickets were sold out and the show times were limited to only 4 something. Pretty crappy. So then, since i felt so left out when my siblings are discussing excitedly about Underworld, i decided, I WILL WATCH AND NOT FEEL LEFT OUT! xDD

OMG. It was AWESOME! In terms of how the werewolves and vampires were portrayed lar. xD SO COOL man!!! Very dark movie. Literally and figuratively. Kate is just...well...Kate. She looked uber cool with those blue eyes when she gets all vampirery. Lol.

Quite the show for Valentine's if you ask me. xD

Soon, it was time for dinner.

Earlier on, we had wanted to place a reservation on this Japanese restaurant at One World Hotel. Unfortunately, at that time, it was fully booked (not surprising) so we decided to leave Chu Ian's phone number there so that if there happen to be any cancellation, we would get to have a place. As luck would have had it, there were no cancellations. But we decided to wait anyway. xD

And then...

"Aunty!" Chu Ian calls out to the couple who just went in.

Found out later that it was Chu Ian's Uncle and Aunt who just so happen had a reservation there at the same restaurant! xD We made our polite introductions and then Chu Ian explained the situation to his uncle. Who then went to the manager and said something along the lines of: PLEASE GET MY NEPHEW A TABLE!

HAHAHA! No LAR. He did NOT say it quite so authoritatively according to Chu Ian. Hehe! But he did say it to about that effect! To me lar. xD Haha! So effective it was that after waiting for another short while, (restaurant was SO busy) WE GOT A SEAT! WOOHOO! :DD

As it turns out, we were seated at the other end of the sushi counter as Chu Ian's uncle and aunt! xD I was already pretty excited by then. Especially after meeting Chu Ian's relatives and finally getting a table, one would naturally get a little on the high. xD So, the waiter cleared the table and carefully placed all the necessary utensils for us whilst we (or i) excitedly went over the menu.

Quite suddenly, out of nowhere came two small glasses that were placed neatly next to our big green tea cup. Just when i was about to question if the waiters were expecting us to drink alcohol, the waiter explained that the Sake was from Chu Ian's uncle!! O.O

OMG. I DO NOT DRINK SAKE!

We both made the waiter pour us half a glass of the sake and drank it reeeaaallll slloooowww. LOL! So anyway, i ordered a set that came with Unagi! And my my...very generous portion! I enjoyed my dish very much. :) Then suddenly again, Chu Ian's uncle appeared with the sake bottle in hand!! O.O And he refilled my unfinished amount of sake with more sake!!! GAHHHHHH!!!

He was a very jolly man.

And very generous.

xD

I say this because later on, he ordered for both of us, each, a plate of oysters. O.O x million.

It goes without saying that i was stuffed till my mouth and was so afraid that my dress would tear and reveal my bloated tummy. *burp*

:D

The uncle went on to pay for the bill too. So, i pretty much owe the uncle and aunt and maybe the rest of Chu Ian's family a lifetime to wash dishes at their place unless i bake a real good cake for them. Haha!! OMG. I really have to take up baking classes. -.-"

Anyhow, after thanking his uncle profusely, we both pretty much walked around in a state of shock and awe. xD

But really, thank you Chu Ian, for the effort and for everything that you did to make Valentine's Day so meaningful and special for me. :) I really enjoyed myself. :) *hugs* Thank you! :)

And to all out there:

Happy Valentine's Day! :)

p.s.: yes..i kinda altered the dates for both this and the earlier entry on my b'day. hehe!
